My Romantic Gesture
I have just booked my wife and I onto a cruise (albeit a very short one) to Bruges from Hull for three days and two nights to celebrate our second wedding anniversary.
Yes, the reason I booked Bruges was because we watched the film 'In Bruges' and no, I am not Colin Farrell. Anyway, the reason for this thread is to ask if anyone on SN has been and where are the best places to drink/eat/visit while you are there. (Hotel is booked already.) As its only a short break any help and guidance would be appreciated to save time aimlessly wandering about. I know that aimless wandering can sometimes be part of the fun but not when you only got three days!

Not sure on the restaurants as the ones I went to I wasn't impressed with but there's a nice cafe on the main square that serves cracking ice cream and waffles.
The walk up the tower is knackering by the way
I found there litte to do during the day (although the brewery entertained me for a few hours and I bought a fair few bottles home) but it's beautiful at night. You could take a horse drawn carriage tour, there are several museum,s somehow we ended up in the chocolate museum
Make sure you have a Kwak beer while your there too.

If anyone hasn't seen the film In Bruges:
Ken: Coming up?
Ray: What's up there?
Ken: The view.
Ray: The view of what? The view of down here? I can see that down here.
Ken: Ray, you are about the worst tourist in the whole world.
Ray: Ken, I grew up in Dublin. I love Dublin. If I grew up on a farm, and was retarded, Bruges might impress me but I didn't, so it doesn't.

For eating and if you like curry you must go to this place Bhavani Indian Restaurant
One of the best curries i've had and thought the service was excellent and very friendly. Easy to find, it is on the little square where Pizza Hut is along with a few chocolate shops a couple of minutes from the main square

Nope didn't do that tour - maybe next time though as will go back again, spent 2 days (including the day we arrived) wandering around relaxing to be honest. Did the horse drawn carriage ride, a boat ride around the canals and went to the chocolate museum. On the 3rd day for going home we went to Brussels after breakfast and wandered around there just so we didn't have any rushing to get the Eurostar.
I want to go back just for the curry and the beer
