More cancer stupidity
BBC NEWS | England | Nottinghamshire | Skin cancer man thanks 'stranger'
What sort of mong walks around with a golf ball sized lump on their face and doesn't do anything about it?
Lucky to be alive, well done to the eagle eyed young surgeon who spotted it
Some people don't deserve help when they won't even help themselves

my uncle died from cancer of the throat and this was only spotted when he went to the doctor with a sore throat. he had a mole on his neck which the doctor spotted and on closer inspection they found a lump behind which went through to his throat. Not always easy to spot when its like this.

Nat, did you watch the link in that story? It looked on the surface nowhere near the size of a golf ball, most of the tumour was probably under the surface. (I had to watch without sound, so don't know what was said.)
Tbh, if it were me, I'd have gone and had it checked out anyway as it was quite significant, but he may have been afraid to, or tried to account for it being something different, who knows.

My dad's mate just had to have a tumor the size of his hand removed from his leg...he went into have a hip operation, but the pre-op checkup, the surgeon noticed something suspicious, referred him to another specialist, few tests later, yup huge cancer growth.
Fact is, it had been growing there for years, unknown to him. He always had a hip problem from an accident 20 odd years ago, where any pain or problems were related to his hip. And he did get it checked out on numerous occasions (which is why he was having an operation....lucky the surgeon thought outside the box)
Silly as it sounds, his dodgy hip may have saved his life. (or sparked off the cancer...who knows )

Yes I think he was a bit stupid to not go and get it checked out, as I think my Grandad was stupid not to get his checked out, despite our concerns. Although his skin cancer was quite different in appearance.

Look, I know many a people who ignore their health issues, specially men. Sometimes people think they are hard to cope with little lumps and bumps, sometimes they are sh!tscared to be diagnosed with something serious. Whatever that man's reasons were to ignore his tumour, only he knows. What I don't understand why two doctors are regulars in a greasy chippy Fried food is supposed to be bad for health, and there they are (doctors!); indirectly campaigning in favour of oily fish and chips on British media. I don't get it

Did you know that bowel cancer creeps up on you usually without any symptoms until it is often too late for a cure?
Bowel cancer is not very selective about who it attacks. Knowing that, as a person above the intelligence of the general proletariat as you indicate, do you think it might be wise of you to enquire about that check if you have not done so already?

The earlier version of that same story on the BBC was better written and included this comment from the guy:
""The guy followed me to my car and tapped on the window and told me he was a doctor.
"He said I had a small lesion in the corner of my eye and he suggested that if I hadn't had it looked at already I should have it looked at very pronto. "
