SHUT UP, has it?!

Crumbs, I bought our TV from ED and thought their service was pretty good. Hope my warranty is OK. Its a Panasonic but I'm sure its manufacturer.

Its very worrying. I've got a new fridge on order from Laskys. You don't know who will be next. I've got to order a new washer and dryer too and cheapest was dixons. Think I'll use a credit card just in case.

Having looked at AV Forum website it turns out that the online warranty was with ED and not Panasonic. Only those TVs bought instore came with a true Panasonic 5 year warranty.

Pish!

However, I'm pooping my pants because I bought the fridge with Laskys with a debit card.

Lets hope they aren't in trouble and if they are lets hope they can get my fridge to me before they go belly up.

I suppose they sold stuff too cheap and over-expanded beyond their means.

I've used them a fair bit when buying electricals as they were the cheapest around and there's a store local to me, so I can just pick it up and save delivery (plus I can deal face to face if something breaks).

Their customer service was good, and the returns policy has no quibbles (unlike Currys, where I noted staff have to phone their automated call centre to get RMA advice and authorisation...taking forever in the process ). Seems a shame, as they were giving the other electrical retailers at the shopping centre (Currys and Comet either side) a damn good run for their money.

Not quite as comprehensive as CC but I was successful following a claim after not receiving goods (company went t1ts-up) having paid with my Barclays (Connect) debit card

Their stores seemed to be located right next door to Comets/Currys, the idea being to undercut the big boys on their footfall. Problem was they were never that cheap, you could get things even cheaper from good internet sellers.

Question is, who will go next?

There was a small crowd outside the store just down from me at lunch today. I have to admit, I did wonder about those shops - they never seemed to have a large stock in and it always seemed a bit 'cheap' (back room trader style) to me.

Thats very true because if you read the smallprint on the Panasonic 5year warranty forms it stipulates that you MUST demo the TV instore in order to recieve the 5year warranty.

They must be different from most.

Most extended warranties go through a third party like Domestic & General.

They're a local company to me so Look North were blowing it out of all proportion tonight!

They tried to interview the owner but he shot off in his Nissan GTR

Burberry are in big trouble too...

The special Panasonic warranty is an offer they [Panasonic] have run around Xmas and NY for the last couple of years. I travelled to Bolton to view my TV and ensure I got the warranty a couple of years back. All communication and paperwork relating to it has come from and is labelled 'Panasonic', no mention of any other underwriter. Got two free DVD's as well, on top of getting an RRP £3600 telly for £1500
