Question Leg Pain

Evening all, right this is a strange one, will try to describe it as best as i can but just really want to find out if anyone else has experianced this or know what it is..
I woke up at around 3am with this really bad pain in my calf, it was really intense and frightned me to death as it was a stinging tight lump appeared, i kept trying to move my leg around to see if it freed itself, i tried to touch this lump but it really stung, after about 5 mins of panic and moving my foot around it seemed to pop back in, the area still feel sore to touch and a bit stinging when i walk up/down the stairs.
Had to see the doctor earlier for a check up on another matter but mentioned this to her and she was really puzzled and didnt really tell me what it may be or caused it, just wondering if anyone has ever had the same happen???

Have you knocked the calf previously or was it just totally out of the blue ?

It is almost certainly cramp as already stated. You need to drink some water or something before you go to bed as it is normally a sign of dehydration. I get it quite often if I've been running and then had a few beers.

I heard somewhere that the reson you get cramp is having too much salt?

I dont know how true it is though!

I never eat salt unless it's already in food and I never get it

That sounds more like drinkers' cramp. You have a skin-full, then wake up as your muscle suddenly contracts, then you howl in pain. After what feels like forever, you manage to straighten your leg, but it hurts for days.

I don't know, but I always thought it could be down to not having enough salt.

That'd explain why you're so boring.

I drink and I occasionally get those symptoms. Although my favourite is lock-jaw from yawning too far. That fecking hurts!!! And it makes me dribble uncontrolably

I knew a fella who got lock-jaw .He carried a card round with him in his wallet in case it happened ,so he could explain to people/doctor etc why he was going round with his mouth wide open ,dribbling like a Labrador .
I never saw it happen though .lol

I get it in my thighs sometimes after cycling if I sit in the same position for ages and then stretch, agonizing.

I did have a few instances of a stabbing pain in my leg, worse than the cramp, thought it was DVT or god knows what, happened 4 or 5 times in a week and I decided to go to the doctors then it stopped completely and hasnt happened since, was about four years ago.

I always thought it was the exact opposite?

What do you mean by a lump appearing? Could you actually see one?

Could the lump have been a vein or the muscle tightening caused by the cramp?
