Default Ice

How do you make ice cubes for drinks which is perfectly CLEAR like on the Baileys adverts, I have found it impossible to make CLEAR ice.

My ice is dull and filled with tiny bubbles.

I have tried, bottled water to no avail.

Thanks

You need to ring up your water supplier and ask them to connect you to the clear ice grid where special water is piped to you usually on the first Thursday of the month.

Its a bit of a pain being expected to make all your ice cubes on that day, or at least get the water stored to make them, but well worth it in the end as I'm sure you can appreciate.

Boil the water apparently works, never tried though.

Also using distilled water seems to be another favourite.

Boiling water removes air, to make sure though they need to be frozen slowly to allow remaining air to expel during freezing. I recall seeing a program about arctic ice and the said that translucent ice has formed slowly whereas opaque white is a sign of a rapid freeze.

I'm sure you can, Yoza. You might get an Indian call centre though this time of night but I'm sure you can understand da lingo innit and they could probably connect you to last weeks supply as I know it was undersubscribed in your area.

Another common misconception. You look after it, the English own it.

I don't have William Wallace anyway, I raffled him months ago.

Boil the water twice and if possible use a metal tray or ice bags.

Mate of mine works with Ice - he reckons that the water needs to be filtered and then kept moving as it freezes.
