We have it.

No hassle it was free just had to pay a £30 fee.
Waying it up it's a FREEView box with built in hard drive, you can also 'buy/rent' films or tv programmes etc via it (at a small extra cost)... all for £30

So far pleased with it.

I also use the HDMi connect on it nd the picture seems better on our Samsung 720p HD screen

Was looking into this myself. I take it the box uses your Broadband connection to stream the T.V content? Do you have to take an extra contract out?

Sorry for the hijack.

I've played with one and it is quite good. However, to take advantage of the TV/Movies on demand you need to have BT Broadband which I wouldn't touch.

I take it the Standard T.V comes through an ariel still? Already on BT Broadband so hope I don't have to use their router for this.

I have the whole package, BT Vision the Phone Hub plus BB, very pleased here BT Vision is just like sky plus in respect of recording freezing live tv etc... you can record 2 channels at once or watch one and record another and series record, it will not work without the BB connection on BT as you get all the TV programme info through the connection, easy to install did mine in 10 minutes.

Right we have it and here is my input.

Had it for about 8 months now and the system and useability is very easy, we use it in HD too, although if you turn the box off at night like we do you have to reset the TV screen ratio next time you switch it on as it only saves the setting if you leave it on.

The freeview part itself works ok the box itself contains 2 receivers, the second one being for the recording part of the system, however the first one which is also the weakest one of the two does have it's faults.
Depending on how good your ariel signal is depends on if you can get all the freeview channels and how well, we suffer here from an occasional problem where we lose all the ITV band of channels {the bands are shown on the freeview website} this is due to the weaker first reciever.

I know this as I have had a few discussions with BT and had an engineer out who also confirmed this, although it may be recifiable by an ariel alteration {but i am too tight to do that} our normal freeview box works perfectly {added for comparison}

We do not rent any of the programs as I find a) we usually do not have enough time to watch them b) we rent DVDs anyway & c) when we have time it is usualy on the net anyway

You will not be able to use the recording function if you are not on BT broadband as the system needs to be connected via the LAN port on the box and hub, the freeview will work if the hub is not on.

AFAIk you cannot use the system connected to another router apart from the BT hub a sit uses the internet connection not only for the recording auth but for the pay to watch part also.

HTH.

Paul.

yep, you need BT HomeHub Broadband to work with B Vision, very happy with the service BT offer, you can ring them anytime for help on set up or if you have a roblem withteh system.

PaulC72
why do you turn it off at night?
ours is left on as it self updates etc, we also find that the GREEN on light turns its self to AMBER (stand by) on it's own if left sometimes.
Anyone else found this?

Thanks Guys, the rason i asked was.......

When i sorted my Broadband out last month they asked me about it,it all seemed canny so went ahead with it.

The nice lady on the other end asked if i had Sky i said yes, also asked me if im in a freeview area,as i can get it upstairs i said yes.She asked if i had an ariel i said no,just the shy dish.Fine she said thats ok.

Equipment arrived today, and looked at the set up,and there is no way i can see it working without an ariel.

Is that right,or am i missing something
Cheers

The Freeview part needs an aerial. The box will work without it but just to stream the paid-for TV and Movie content.

LOL no the cooker is only on when the switch is flicked, but we do leave the fridge and freezer on all the time, it kinda keeps the balance

I cannot see the point of leaving the TV etc on standby as it serves no purpose whereas the fridge and freezer continue to work when not in use, if they didn't you would soon know

I would think quite alot of people turn the tv etc off at night

I may not do much for the enviroment but at least it is somehting and it also help balance off the 4x4 hehe.

just put your tv and stuff on a cheap timer like i do, so after say 2am, it switches off at the wall until 7am

saves all the arsing about

only ever had 1 problem with BT in the past 8 or so years of service, and that was sorted out quickly due to somebody giving me the number of a north east based technical helpline (none of this indian ****)
