Default CD storage

I rememebr a thread I started a while ago about sorting CD's/vinyl etc out for the Dj's amongst us.

Thing is, I have got around 1000-1200 CD's in my Dj collection which I need storing for easy access. I've got a couple of heavy duty CD wallets which hold about 200 each, but obviously they would contain the 'in' tunes for easy transportation.

Just wondering what the other Dj's on here do for CD storage. Currently most my Cd collection is on old CD spindles gathering dust. Ideally some sort of filing system which can hold 100s of serpate plastic wallets (1 wallet per CD) would be good. So I could flick through the tunes as and when needed without each one having a big bulky plastic case or being in a draw somewhere.

suggestions, and pics of your innovation is really what I need.

Cheers guys

Just scouring Ebay now

Are you going to raffle them off?

Or might they end up in a drawER?

UDG cd wallets- 280 capacity is the biggest, but can get smaller 128 capacity ones.
I used to use case logic but the zips are crap and break

Ended up going to a place called Cram computers and bought a big bundle of thin plastic sleeves, one per CD. Then found some old wooden bed slats, a few screws later and an aching wrist, I have 4 neat storage boxes that can sit on my deck table.

Didn't cost much and my CD's won't gather dust. I have my two big CD wallets for transporting set tunes, while the rest used to just sit on spindles, which did concern me. (don't wanna get all dust and crap in my CD mixers).

Why use plastic wallets?

They're untidy and will take forever to find your desired CD.

Just pop into your nearest Argos and buy a shed load of their cheap CD racks. Before you say ''totally sh1te and a waste of money,'' just get some. For the price of a set of spinners you could house your whole collection with ease.

''Chateau Vinyl Ritchie'' is full of 'em. Ok...... they're unable to stand alone. I have to prop them up against the living room wall for support, [I've found than an angle no greater than 45 degrees does the trick] and when transporting them you must squeeze both ends in [the glue isn't the best]

But the best thing of all, is when the dopey cold callers knock on the door trying to sell me whatever, I can't help but show them the 'minstness' of my 'pukka' cd racks. To say they are blown away is an understatement, they seem to think that they are state of the art. Which can't be bad, surely?

Some pearls of wisdom for you.

kinda made sense, but it's somehwere to slip the CD's into I needed. Thats why I bought cheap plastic sleeves so I can see the information on the inudvidual disks. Plus in flat boxes which cost me nothing to make, I can easily move them about. Appreciate the genuine suggestion though, holding back the sarcasm, must have taken some.
