Default Anyone else see Darling squirming on GMTV this morning?

Attempting to explain the government's position, he commented that, "It would not be right to take money out of the economy at the moment".

Bill Turnbull was on him in a moment. The next few exchanges went something like this:

BT: So does that mean no tax rises?
Darling: I've said what it means, it would not be right to take money out of the economy at the moment.
BT: Is that a yes, or a no?
Darling, Look, I can't make it any clearer.
BT: so that's a no, then?
Darling: I've made it as clear as I can, it's not the right time to take money out of the economy.
BT: So is that yes, or no? That's all you need to say, yes, or no.
Darling: Look, I don't think I can make it any clearer can I?
BT: Ok, we'll just have to differ on the clarity of your answer.

Is Darling the most slimy Labia man at the moment?

He was such an idiot this morning. I have seen him be that evasive before in previous interviews. I know he doesn't want to say the wrong thing, but does he not realise that constantly trying to avoid answering the question just makes people assume the worst. We are not idiots, tell the ****ing truth!

Now all I have to do is find a clip of this. I love seeing them on the spot.
Last week with GB and the Sky Business panel, and he was getting torn to shreds, but just about managing to stick to the script.

How can you take a man who paints creosote (or something like that) on his eyebrows?

I heard him on Radio 4 this morning in similar denial mode, basically hoping that a Tsunami somewhere in the UK would divert attention.

Taking money out of the economy? There's hardly any left to take

Won't raise income tax for the £175k plus earners because they won't understand the new figures. Yeah right, 40% to 45% is a bit technical I suppose.........

I can't see there being any alternative at the moment apart from raising tax. Which tax if the question. VAT is one of the fairest ones, but that will just get them completely slated. Introducing a new tax band above £100K?

That is absolutely not going to happen. I wouldn't discount perhaps indeirect raise of 5 percent, but certainly not on income tax.

Agreed, but what's the alternative. Cameron isn't exactly telling us what he would do differently. In fact he isn't saying anything... again!

That is actually the most disappointing thing of all. One bag of shysters or another bag of shysters. Same s**t different party!

Too many people on here are postively enjoying the economic crisis this country faces, and I mean loving it...so sad!

Why don't you get over your own in-built, one-eyed political allegences and start hoping the government succeed, rather than praying for them to fail.

When Cameron get's in this place is going to change over-night, suddenly everything is going to be excused and understandable.

This is why this country is becoming ungovernable, why we don't get many good people wanting to get into politics, why put yourself through it?

I agree that the way so many on here revel in the economy's downturn is very sad, but that is what happens when you let your own perceieved hatred of a political party overcome common sense.

I am balanced as I think the Tories are just as bad and we have no hope whichever party is in power. Sad, but true.

They better have a rethink over that VED rubbish because they aren't far off literally bringing the country to a standstill next year on top of everything else.

I hear what you say, however I cannot think of one thing which NL has done for the good of this country. The party could easily introduce some money into the economy by taxing those who earn over 175k. They cannot make their minds up or don't have the ***** to do that. Maybe because it will affect many of them and their business friends. That doesn't bode well for them when NL lose at the next general election.
I'm not suggesting David Cameron wil succeed, however, the counrty needs a prime minister they voted in, not a default.

I almost feel sorry for the little weasel. After all, he is only mismanaging the complete and total f*ck-up of an economy left to him by the 'steady hand on the wheel' that was Gordon 'Teflon' Brown...

It doesn't matter which political party is in government. They are all the same. Money grabbing, corrupt, liars, the lot of them.

Here's a thought, what qualifications do you need to be the Chancellor of the Exchequer? None, as far as I know.
