first time
I did mess up the emergency stop though - it was the first thing to be tested on and I was VERY tense due to having some smack into the back of my car when I was learning to drive

2 times ,the first i was in a no win situation driving at 40mph in a 40mph limit came upto some traffic lights on green and they changed when i was a metre away from the line so i kept on going and he failed me for that, i told him if i had stopped i would of been across the line to which he replied with a silent look at me .
second time passed in ice and snow 1 minor for hesitating on a roundabout .
i believe that there is the right time of year and a wrong time when they have passed to many people they become more strict

1st time, the day after my 17th B'day. I'd spent a couple of hours on my B'day driving with my dad. Then the next day I had 2 hours with an instructor before taking my test. That was back in 1984.

my wife teaches the kids of a driving examiner and it turns out he's stopped tests because the student was so bad.
Only thing is: he's not insured to drive the car and will not allow the student to do so. So he gets out, locks the car and gets a taxi back to the test center.
Leaves the failed student stuck by the side of the road!

First time.
That was with a squeeling/slipping clutch whilst reversing round a corner up a steep hill and parking a foot away from the curb.

When you say 'They changed when I was 1m away', do you mean they changed to amber or red ? Traffic lights are timed to the speed of the road, so on a 30mph they will fairly quickly go from amber to red, but on a 70mph road they will remain amber for much longer to allow people to slow safely from the higher speed. The HC states 'If the amber light appears you may go on only if you have already crossed the stop line or are so close to it that to stop might cause an accident'. If the lights you were approaching had been at green for some time, then you should have been anticipating their change and made suitable preparations to stop the car safely before the red light appears. You may however cross the white line safely at any point up to the red light showing.

1st time after two lessons as a cancellation came up.
The problem being that to be honest, I was completely unprepared to go out on my own afterwards as I hadn't a clue having had no lessons. Still a few weeks later of 'practice' then everything was fine.
