What happened to his American football and Rugby League ambitions?
Remember seeing the club on the news saying that he effectively 'needed too much technical work, Rugby wise' to make it...
ie. he was pish

Funny how failing to take a drugs test in the Olympics, or any other professional sport is treated as an automatic positive, yet there ban is not lifetime.
Sorry, no one forgets to take a drugs test!!!

I wish he'd say what really went on.
I find it hard to believe he took drugs all on his own.
I'd suggest he was told what to take, and when, and what to use to cover it up/get away with it.
Drug cheats will always be one step ahead on the drug testers.

In some ways this gives out the wrong signals to alot of kids. They are sending the message that once a junky always a junky. You have to bare in mind the way these kind of folk think. They will have the theory theres no point trying to give it up cause they'll still carry the label.
Like a few others have touched on, the whole Olympics is riddled with drugs (of the banned kind).

There has already been wide spread coverage that he was told what to take and when by Victor Conte, using Balco Products. Victor Conte has already done time for aiding American athletes with steriods etc.
In addition to this Dwain provided a dossier on what he took and when, and for what reasons, including a letter from Conte explaining in detail the reasons for each supplement

Letting him go to the Olympics tells them that there is a good chance that you will get away with it.
What do you think is the best all round action when you think about it that way? They also say that the effect of those types of drugs can stay with you for a very long time so he may well still be enjoying an unfair advantage.

Except that the message might well be that it just is not worth getting into the drugs anyway and that is the sort of disappointment that you can expect for being so stupid in the first place.

I think he should of been allowed to go, its like saying that when you have done a crime, paid a sentance for it, then you will be punished again and again for it in the future. plus, he would have been one of our (as a country) best bets for a gold medal! (there is of course exceptions to this rule such as paedos etc, so dont try and throw that one in)
just my 2p, but thats what I think.

The problem is if he's done it once then there's always going to be a big question mark if he'll do it again. The personal embarrassment is one thing, but the guy has been representing his country and he was happy to take the risk of getting caught and disgracing it. That shows an appalling lack of character. Personally I wouldn't take the risk with him.
We never knowingly employ thieves in the banking world even if their convictions are spent. Would you be happy that an ex-thief is looking after your money as they've now promised to go straight?

It's very tempting when your in that competitive environment to take enhancing drugs.your always looking for the quickest short cut to get an advantage above everyone else..The guy did a stupid thing, and if he had been allowed to run for GB,then it would have been sending out a message that.ohh it soft Britain again..plus i don't think it would of been good for the other members of the GB team for him to be let back in..the decision is Right.at the end of the day he wanted a quicker way to enhance his performance..he got caught, and now hes paying the price for it...

Don't worry, there are PLENTY more "cheats" going to, hosting and running the event!
I hear the equivalent of the entire mfg base in Victoria and New South Wales here in Australia is being "shutdown" for the event in China.
