Driveway access rights...?

Now I don't wanna open a can of worms here, or go on about my problems with my shared-driveway, etc...
Contractors are doing work on the road in our close. I'd been warned in a letter about possible disruption to vehicle access to property.
I understood this to mean access may be disrupted whilst work is actually being done by the contractors.
Upon my return home last night, well after they'd left for the day, I found cones and a barrier blocking off our drive. The dropped kerb had been replaced (slightly higher, as the tarmac is to be made higher), and the pavement tarmac dug-out in front of the shared driveway block-paving.
This effectively cut off access for 6 properties! [img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img]
I promptly moved all the cones, etc. and carefully drove my scoob over the crud and parked it in my garage!!
It seems everyone else had been warned off by the contractors not to use the drive due to the new kerb and its underlying concrete setting.
Surely they must provide bridging across such work for access rights to peoples property. Doesn't this come under "Wilful Obstruction" ???
If I have in some way disturbed the new kerb and it needs further work, then I expect them to fix it thanks to their own stupidity and oversight...

I would just move house mate 
Seriously, I think they can block access for a short period during "construction" work. However, if they start to drag their heels over it, I would be having words with the contractors.

Yup - I think that'll be happening this Autumn, after the wedding. Somewhere with a decent driveway, double garage, etc.

So you're quite happy to spend ££££££'s on a house and garage, and then have some navvie unilateraly decide that you can't use it? [img]images/smilies/mad.gif[/img]
What about the terms of my insurance? "Garaged overnight at home address". What if it was vandalised or stolen?
The situation has now been resolved - They were made to see the error of their ways.
