Unhappy My wifes KA

She has just arrived home saying she has a punture, the inside of both tyres are worn to the wire, I don't think it was a puncture I think the tyre wore so thin it just disintergrated. Our local tyre fitter can do the tracking/balancing etc But I think its more serious.......Any Ideas!

Look it's no use relying on wives/gfs/daughters to look after tyres and complicated technical things like that.

It also happens to be pretty dangerous letting tyres get into that state. The fitter should have some idea if there is a problem, for example if wear is very uneven across tyre. In which case you need to get garage to check it out. Could just be only half full of air

If it's done both it'll just be the tracking There's nowt else to adjust on a Kack anyway...well, you could but it would involve big hammers etc! Get the tracking done (with the new tyres fitted) and it'll be fine.

get the wishbones checked out, more than likely worn, symptons can be a floaty front end, pulling to one side under accelleration and braking etc, worn tyres. not mega expensive to do

Ha, just had a call from the Ka-owning mother-in-law. Apparently hers ahs been "losing power" for weeks now and then yesterday there was an "almighty bang" and now it "sounds like a traction engine" and there's bits of fibreglass hanging down from the exhaust pipe at the back.

I told her to check the exhaust for bananas or a potato

Yeah the front did seem floaty, getting new tyres tomorrow and getting the tracking checked. Wil get a total check on the front end.

Cheers

Should be OK, it looks as though it's just blown the backbox apart. Engine seems fine. The traction engine comment was due to the exhaust noise.

backbox for one of them is about 20-25 if you pop into your local exhaust supplier

Seconded, make sure you keep an eye on her car, women are useless when it comes to such things, no matter what happens, even if you are going to seize it or crash it do not let such matters interfere with shopping or such stuff.
