Default Has anyone flown with Etihad

Thinking of booking some flights with them, but have heard the connection at Abu Dhabi can be hard work. Is this true and what is the service like?

Cheers

Where are you flying to? The terminal at AUH is cramped and can become very crowded at peak times.
They have a mixed bag of aircraft, some new some leased but on the whole they are ok from what i've heard. They have a good IFE system when it works and good service on board.
I work for BA so am obviously biased but have you checked out the same route with us?

Very good if you ask me.

Had a 24 hour door to door journey (incl transfers, stopovers etc) with them a couple of years ago and was honestly one of the nicest journeys I have had.

Don't know about today, but back then they were old fashioned enough to honour the age old principle of 'arrive early and smart - you get an upgrade', which made all the difference on a long haul.

Abu Dhabi was nice enough to stop over at, plenty to eat, nice shops, clean lavs etc.

Woud happily fly them again.

Thanks fellas. Flying with them from Sydney to LHR and returning back to Brisbane. Fingers crossed that the Abu Dhabi stop over is ok (It's 2 hrs) as I have two kids with me (One is 4 years old and the other is 6mths old).

They are fine, lot of new planes in their fleet. Flown a few times.

Not much to see in Abu Dhabi, noisey, dirty and little tlo do, Dubai is an hour and 20 mins away by car/taxi.

The flight will be 'dry'.

Excellent service and security.

Saw Etihab on the rear wing of the Ferraris at the weekend and wondered who they were. Timely thread.

They don't serve booze? phew, I never thought about that and was looking at some middle eastern carriers for a flight.

I don't think they are dry at all. I had a drink on there.

You might have more trouble with the IFE though.

IIRC they are not dry - I had scotch and wine with them last year
Anyway, a very good airline to travel with, a good modern fleet and good service.
Changing at Abu Dhabi is a bit boring if stuch there for a couple of hours - unlike somewhere like Changi there's nowhere to crash out and relax or eat properly; and if you are there at the same time as the flights to India and Pakistan are hubbing then space is at a premium and that includes the floor
