Default Got a ticket from the Police...

On the bike... well almost. Parked up yesterday in a bike bay but when i came back to it at the end of the day i noticed something lying on the floor underneath it, turned out to be a ticket £60 fine not displaying valid tax disc.

Except it is, it is bolted on by the front wheel so the officer never looked (it is a police ticket not a council or DVLA one).

I have the option to write to them but otherwise it seems to be pay up or go to court. If i write in, what are the chances of getting it dropped? Just want to know if i have to go to court to be told to go home again as it is a Police issue and not the same as challenging a parking ticket from the council.

cheers,

5t.

It's still an offence if you have a tax disc but don't display it.

Are there not regs on where a tax disc must be displayed? Seems very petty, though

Imagine getting a motor vehicle clamped and fined for being on the public highway, although it doesnt have an engine, so is it technically a motor vehicle? Thats my situation at the minute lol

This was taken on my phone at the time. The bike is still sitting in the same bay where it had been all day. Tax until end of July!!

I would phone them and ask to speak to the copper who booked you or his boss... I certainly wouldn't pay and if you go to court the copper wont back down, he'll say you must have put it on later.

Keep your hands off the tax, call them and say come and have a look, it aint been touched for months, you can clearly see that !!

If no use I'd get the papers involved !!

Contest it via the advice on the ticket.

Simple.

Keep that picture, tell the authorities, and if they insist on prosecuting you, go to court and produce the photo as evidence, plead not guilty and sting them for costs. You could go to court on the bike and suggest they see it for themselves.

Compo i like! Going to try to trace the officer/warden and have a word before it gets embarassing for them and they dig their heels in.

All the contact seems to be through the court which seems like a total waste of time and money for all concerned.

Not on me i'm afraid. Sitting on the sofa at home!

I have discovered a mate who can find out who/what the officer is (actual copper or police warden) and see if we can't get a chat and have them void the ticket. That's tonight's plan!

Once it's been submitted it's gone mate.

Sent off to process units who do the legal stuff.

Contest it immediately with the photo and any witness you can find who can vouch for having seen the disc on your bike.
