Default I-PHONE Help!!!

ok got an american version of the said apple product, brought it from my work collegue/friend, any way the phone had been jailbroken, it was running software version 1.1.2, no problems what so ever, software installs were a doddle, springboard etc etc..

this morning, i get to work, and it says no signal, went out side, no signal..another o2 sim was put in...no signal, sim works fine in other phones!!

so we proceed to revert back to what it was, its locked state, jailbroke it again, added the firmware, still f*cked, so did the latter again, and thought that it might be the Baseband, that was fixed/repaired but still, o2 sim goes in..no signal!!

its just unlocked to o2 at the moment...

any ideas!!??

thanks in advance

Seem to remember reading that the latest firmware release from Apple turns unlocked Iphones into expensive garden ornaments. Not an Apple user myself, so may be wrong.

Dare say the small download within the following link could be useful ?? Look for the RE-VIRGINIZER icon. seems there are plenty off unbrcking software programmes around from a quick search off google.

Why would a company release a gadget non tech savvy people want, lock it into a mega expensive contract for two years so its unobtainable to anyone who doesnt want to be ripped off, then when people start to listen to the majority vote and begin to unlock it, they release a patch of firmware but forget to tell users it will brick the unit if its unlocked when installed?

Monoploly on the market anyone?

Why didnt they just sell it unlocked and sim free??

Would have sold more!

Suggest you "fix" it again, then quick sell it! This is one of the reasons I've not bought Apple stuff, I prefer generic or open standard hardware when it comes to stuff like MP3 players, phones etc, stuff like iPhones are so locked in/proprietary, you are at the mercy of the manufacturers good will. Lovely looking kit, great interface, shame it's locked down.
