Now Livingstone supresses accident figures ...
From MCN at: Ken Livingstone ‘costing lives’ - Motorcycle News - MCN
" ... Ken Livingstone could be causing injuries and deaths by suppressing findings which could dramatically cut road casualties, Tory MPs are set to tell Parliament.
They say Ken Livingstone is to blame for failing to cut casualties because he has hidden research on the effects of letting motorcycles use bus lanes.
A leaked report on a three-year pilot states collisions fell by 42% on routes where motorcycles were allowed to share the lanes. The report is dated September 2007 but a date has yet to be set for the findings to be officially released.
Robert Goodwill, shadow minister for motorcycles, said: “Ken is directly responsible for not being able to reduce accidents by 42% and people will have been seriously injured and possibly killed in the meantime.” ... "
So why doesn't he publish the results ? Maybe because the conclusions didn't fit in with the answer he was expecting. Sorry, but this is just what I expect from just about any politician these days but I hope Londoners take note of the fact that his *inaction* is getting people killed. Who was it who said 'if it saves one life .... '. In this case it's ' if it gets us more votes and s*d the body count ....'
Quite repugnant.

It's like the Metropolitan Ambulance Authority figures which state that 400+ deaths a year could be avoided by removing traffic calming measures which prevent emergency vehicles from responding quickly enough. As the people die of heart-attacks, burn to death or lie bleeding from stab and gunshot wounds, they aren't road traffic accidents and so do not count towards the figures used to justify speed bumps, (s)cameras and other measures. There's lies, damned lies, and then there's statistics

It is probably too sensationalist for the other press I am no Ken fan, it is pretty clear that he makes changes things just to suit him.
Thank god I don't live anywhere near London. The obvious downside though is that whatever they can make work in London eventually comes to other places, no doubt one of those being near me
