Contract Hire/Leasing
Is anyone on here in the contract hire or leasing game (private not business use).
After working out how much I'm spending on finance and petrol on my ageing Jap fleet, I reckon I could be leasing something decent and diesel instead

Not experianced this personally but one of the contractors I used to work with was obsessed with this. He used to pay anywhere between £200 and £300 a month for some diesel or other, had a run of the Rover 75's till they ran out. Think he gets a 1 series this Jan. He thinks its great as he gets a new car every 20k or 18 months (guess that would depend on the deal) and he pays nothing but insurance, and fuel. No maintenance or tires etc etc to pay for.
Course he never gets to own anything but each to there own.

That's the bit that's always put me off, but in reality I tend to get a loan for £10k over 5 years, buy a car, keep it 3 years, sell it and pay off the loan so I never really own the car in that situation either.
I've worked out that by switching to a pair of diesels, we could afford to spend around £600 a month on leasing which could get us a decent pair of cars. For example (off one site) we could have an Audi A6 2.7TDi and a SEAT Leon TDi for about £640 a month.

I looked into this many years ago, as we operated a similar policy at work, so I could choose any car I wanted so long as it was on the list (Arriva we used at the time and BCR) 300 quid a month and had to include servicing/maintenance which also including one set of tyres
For me personally at the time it wasn't worth it as the mileage clauses were very steep, in fact I did get a Subaru Sport brand new 99 T plate as a fleet/lease for the 300 quid a month based on 25k miles per year
It went back after 30 months with 120k miles, and anything over the 75k miles cost 11p per mile penalty
Now Im lucky if I do 10k miles a year so now would be a better option but then you still never get to own the car, unless you pay the balloon payment at the end of the contract, or keep swapping for something newer
My brother & his mrs just buy a new car each every 3 years, I dont think it ends up costing them any money anymore as they have been doing it for quite a long time now, and over the years gradually built up the spec of cars, and now both have new shape civics fully loaded

Car Leasing, PCP, Lease Cars, Contract & Lease Hire from Ling at LINGsCARS
Look on the private user car list. The Audi is the S Line 2.7TDi Le Mans Edition too, very tempting at £406 including VAT for a 2 year lease.
Audi UK > New Cars > A6 > A6 Offers > A6 'Le Mans' Edition

try Car leasing & contract hire special offers provided by ContractHireAndLeasing.com, it compares *all* companies. Lings is pretty good but she isnt always the cheapest. I pch'd an 02 wrx (from new) on a 3+23 some time back and the missus has got a 120d m sport on a 3+23, its a great way of jumping in a new motor and not having to worry about residuals/selling to tyre kickers/dreamers/bargain hunters etc.

I looked into leasing a while back, but it didn't seem quite so good once I'd included all the little extra things.
For a start it might be £500/month, but it'll be be 18 months + 3 or whatever (ie £1500 to start with plus the monthly payments) then all the deals are generally for non-maintenance and for 10k miles per year, so these add more.
Then if you want extra's (I wanted big alloys and leather) you pay for these extra's yourself at list price, but get nothing to show for them when you return the car.
No doubting it saves a lot of hassle however.

I use Lex | Vehicle Leasing, Contract Hire, Car and Van Leasing I pay approx 350 month (for 2 years) for a new 325 coupe. Works great for me, saves laying out 28k ish for a car and I get a brand new one in less than 18 months.

List Price: £31,375
Deposit: £1289.46
Total to fund: £30085.54
Contract Hire:
Monthly Cost: £429.82
Total over 2 years (including deposit): £11,175.32
True Monthly Cost: £465.64
Loan:
Monthly Cost: £582.07
Resale value after 2 years: £18,760
Loan Settlement figure: £19,677.99
Total over 2 years (including deposit): £16,177.13
True Monthly Cost: £674.05
Obviously, if I was buying the car outright I'd keep it for another year at least to avoid negative equity and I'd be able to haggle the list price down a little, but it would still cost more than leasing. I'm trying to find an example of one of those loans with a balloon payment at the end (which doesn't seem any better than leasing to me as you usually need a bigger deposit).

the baloon payment at the end is virtually the same as leasing, however you have other options at the end; where you can p/x the car (if the car is worth more than the balloon which it occasionally is, it gives a deposit for the next time around, if its less you can walk away and the finance company takes the hit) or actually purchase it, its your choice,
