Just realised they won't ship KEF equipment.
Anyone recommend any London area dealers that could match this price?

Actually tempted with these instead as the wall brackets on the Tannoys are much nicer!

Ed,
I can vouch for the 605 as I have one and is good for the price, spec is fantastic.
I bought the 2005 because at the time the 3005 was £1k, wish I had spent the extra.
I'm sure I've seen the 3005s advertised by Superfi (camden) for approx £599, which with the 605 at approx £400 should come to about the £1k mark.
On a side note I went to see I am Legend on Sunday and spent the whole film having to listen to chavs talking and shouting all the way through. I'm glad I've invested in the home cinema so I can actually enjoy a film in peace and quiet!

Have that exact setup from the same dealer. Really happy with it, but as you say had to go and pick it up.
Edited to say the brackets on the Kefs relocate to the rear to mount on the wall. They look very similar to the Tannoys. However they can't ship Kef stuff, they may be able to ship the Tannoy.

The 605 amp has some great reviews and is the cheapest amp that will decode TrueHD and DTS master audio. As for the speakers I'm not a fan of sub-sat speaker systems myself but I realise 6 full range speakers take up a lot of room.
I'm looking at upgrading my amp and I'm torn between the TS-XR875 or the Denon 3808, both around £1k.
My current Denon amp was £1000 three years ago but is now out of date, just shows you how fast things move.
Cheers

HDMI everything to a 5.1 speaker setup (well the Wii goes via component into the amp, but the Sky box and Tosh EP35 are both using HDMI into the amp with HDMI out to the Samsung 40")
I know it's a thread hi-jack but if people buy the 605 this'll be useful for them

Tannoy DC speakers have been my speaker of choice for the last 15 odd years.. I have a pair of 611's still going strong.
The point source delivery of the midrange / treble is and still is fantastic

Thanks guys.
Been reading reviews, seems the kefs and tannoys are fairly evenly matched, maybe the kefs just edge it.
I am up to oulton park end of jan for a trackday so may just buy it next week and pick it up then.
Anyone using the ipod dock with the 605? How is it as a sterio any good?
cheers
Ed

I've got the 2005s though as mentioned but I think stereo sound quality in this set up is dictated more by the amp

I agree with Deep Singh, OK for backgroud music while doing other stuff.
I've never heard a sub-sat speaker setup that is anymore than just OK with stereo music, add in a budget AV Amp and the source being an mp3 player and you can't really expect to be on the same planet as a good seperates stereo setup with full range speakers.
If you are only used to listening to a cheap all in one setup then it shoud be fine.
I still have a Stereo amp, CD player and speakers setup in a spare room even though my AV amp and speakers alone cost near £3k. If I fancy listening to a CD I use the stereo setup even though most people say CD playback on my AV setup is awesome.
As Deep says it all depends on what you are used to.
Cheers

This may sound like a dumbass question, so apologies in advance, but will there be a way I can play back normal freeview TV audio through the Onkyo amp and speaker set up??

Try looking the Denon Amps they offer auto setup and Wifi ipod connectivity and music streaming.
I use my with Canton speakers they are of a fair superior sound quality vs. tannoy, Kef etc etc that i listened to before purchasing mine
my 2 cents worth !!

Nah, I'm dead set on the onkyo 605. (FYI it also had auto setup and ipod) and the kef's / tannoys because of the their size and profile. I don't have the space in the room for anything bigger.

If you do want a Denon that has full in built Wifi, music streaming and HD formats you are looking at the 4308 whch is around £1800
My next amp will probably be the Denon AVR-3808 which does 90% of the 4308 with full streaming and HD compatability but without Wifi and DAB radio and sells for around £1000.
I'm not bothered about DAB and I can hard wire the LAN connection and £800 buys a lot of HD-DVD and Blu-Ray Movies.
Cheers
