Sorry to hear that Colin.
It's a terrible thing to see someones reaction to losing their possessions in a fire. I'm glad he had the sense to have insurance it is amazing how many people out there take the chance that it will never be them and end up well and truly in the $hit with not a pot to pi$$ in.
All the best to you and yours (inc. the four legged family members) over the festive period mate.
Paul.

Must be terrible mate, glad to hear he is covered though. Its the customers that tend to cause the most grief, understandably they will be a little upset too.
Hope it all gets sorted soon, and he is back up and running. Best wishes.

Thanks guys, Luckily my sister works for an insurance broker and knows a few people she made a phone call and things are moving as I type this, as I said in my first post he has put his heart and soul into this that is why I'm so upset for him, sadly we cannot get anywhere near it at the moment because of the oxsosetling tanks(spelling) but as soon as we can i will get in their and start taking pictures of everything he has lost, it just breaks my heart because he has worked so bloody hard to get it.

Well glad he was insured, and he is not too blame as it started elsewhere.
It will get sorted & he can start building it all up again, he has done it once so will know more and probably do it better this time around so hopefully something good will come from it all.
All the best.

It will be the acetylene cylinders that will be keeping you from getting near the place. They'll want to cool it for 24 hours and keep a 200m exclusion zone.
His hard work will see him right as will his insurance. With a load of shiny new kit and a new challenge in front of him I'm sure he'll be back on his feet (or under cars as it were) in no time.

We have a GSM dialer connected to our intruder / fire alarm so if it goes off at night we get a phone call from it and I can then log onto our cctv to check everything is ok and if needed call the emergency svs. A fairly low cost solution and it does work (when someone burnt some toast at 7am a few weeks ago... ) might be worth looking into something?

I know how you feel mate.
My dad's garage went up in flames about 8 weeks ago. Total and complete accident while welding. 2 customers cars in there went up. They had to shut the road down (as has been said) and evacuate all local businesses incase of explosion.
Lots of stuff was destroyed, but some things were left surprisingly in working order even though the unit was completely gutted, taking the roof with it and burning a hole in the wall into the neighbouring empty unit also.
He didnt have insurance (like a numpty) but the guy he rents the unit from has given him another unit to work out of while the original is being renovated. One of his ramps, and all tools etc were salvageable.
I sh*t my pants for them tho as this is my parents only means of income and i thought it had completley ruined them, but they are slowly getting back on thier feet.
If your lad has insurance then he should be ok, but its just a shame he is gonna have to wait and then start all over again when, if the fire hadnt of happened, he wouldnt have needed to.
Good luck to him tho, and best wishes.
