Question

All,

Am off to Oz in April on holiday, and am stopping over for the night in HK.

Will need a stopover hotel, and I understand that hotels are very expensive in HK. I want something nice as it is me and the girlfriend, but ideally not mega-expensive.

Anyone have any recommendations for really nice hotels in HK?

Ta,

Luke,

Yeah, thanks, I saw some of those deals, trouble is I've already booked the flights so only have the one day there now...

Take a clothes peg for your nose.

Kowloon is rather pungent, especially at night.

The Gold Coast Hotel is nice although it's a bit out of the way in the northern terratories, near Tun Mun.

Try here Hong Kong Hotels

They list hotels under $60 US

Hi there! Completely endorse Mandarin Oriental. One of best Hotels i've stayed in, and unquestionably best service. Can't remember how expensive it was (not cheap I think) though. Hk in general is quite expensive. It's a myth about cheap electronics. Only cheap stuff I found was fake or nicked. Maybe shopped in wrong places? Go up the peak, and watch your wallet at all times!

Enjoy

Hello

One of the cheapest hotels on Hong Kong island is the YWCA (it really is a hotel!). I paid around £40 per night.

For software, go to sham-shu-po on the tube and then follow the signs to the "Golden Arcade". After that, someone will ask you if you would like software, and take you to a room full of DVD's, VCD's etc...
