I've got to get a new ABS controller for my STi V as the unit seems to have failed, so I'm told the Garage who service the car. Certainly the ABS isn't working. They reckon it's going to cost about £1,300 to sort the problem out. Groan.

I have to say that I'm suffering from large pangs of doubt about their integrity after they quoted me (informally) a price of £3,500 for a gearbox rebuild after I had the "5th gear nut coming off" problem. The car is now being fixed by another garage and they reckon we're looking at nearer £500!

To get back to the point I'm going to Hong Kong next week and I wondered if anyone based over there could tell me the address/phone number of a Subaru dealer where I could purchase the offending item, presumably for a lot less than £1,300!!!

I'll be staying at the Island Shangri-La, wherever that is, so if it's anywhere vaguely near there it would be a help.

Any help greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Brendan.

The importer in HK is Motor Image (HK) Ltd.

Address of showroom:
G/F.,Tung Wai Commercial Bldg
109-111 Gloucester Road Wanchai, H.K.
Tel.: (852) 2396 8380
Fax : (852) 2885 8265

Address of service dept:
1/F., No. 6, A Kung Ngam Village Road, Shaukeiwan, Hong Kong
Tel (852) 25608687
Fax (852) 25608647

Best to contact them first to check for price and availability of the offending part.

I don't quite remember the precise location of Island Shangri-La, I think it's in Tsim Sha Tsui East (it's on the Kowloon side). To reach HK side, u can catch a ferry ($2.2 per ride) or get on the tube. Transport is no problem in Hong Kong, the walk from Wanchai pier or Wanchai MTR to the Subaru showroom is less than 5 mins.
Incidentally, a 2nd hand car dealer here operated by some Scots are offering a STi IV that's totally standard and has done abt 65,000kms. Who's car is this? Very rare to have an unmodded STi IV here in HK.

The Showroom is opposite the immigration buildings so follow the walkway to it as you cross the road you are above the Subaru Showroom.

The garage is slight difficult to find, but take the tram to Shaukeiwan terminal and go behind the 7-11 store, you should now see the garage on a slight hill. As far as I can remember only one of the storemen speaks english.

Mark,
I would love to buy your car, but I don't have the money to do so.
European Motors seems to have in stock a lot of interesting cars, they still have the E-type for sale?
BTW, which car are u going to replace the STi with?
