Mountain bike... or walk.
Lots of trails to follow and there is a bike hire place there somewhere too.
Speech house and gardens is worth a look round too.

Aren't the paths a bit too rustic to get a wheelchair down?

We bumped into Sporty Spice when walking there - she has a big place in the middle of nowhere.
She even said hello!

Worth a look especially if it's wet above ground. Seem to remember there's a coal mine you can go down somewhere in the Forest too.

Other than that walking / biking as mentioned, some good pubs around, check out the Rising Sun in the middle of the forest, usually have the local Freeminer brews on tap, yum

Right time of year for chestnuts too.

Keep an eye out for forest sheep

There is one other thing that the forest is good for, but might get you into trouble if caught.
Some good tree "perches" to be found too.

Did see the end of them for quite a while...... but now you'll be glad to hear they're back

So that's the sort of weekend you're planning then Pete.
