HDMI question.. not Computer related !
Now before you start I do work for VM but I've never worked on the TV side !
I just got my V+ box installed by a very grumpy tech and the quality isn't as I expected.
Now I know how it works.. the signal has to be HD quality etc but my question is... why when I put the res to 1000 something do the menus go fuzzy ? its ok a the 700 ish setting and through scart and the picture is fine ??
Even at 700 ish the menu is not as clear as through scart, although the pic is much better ???
I'm confused?

I'm not sure what your problem would be, may be worth getting them out to try another box if its not doing the job (could be a faulty upscaler in the box that deals with all the non HD parts ie menus) or even trying a different HDMI cable.
This is only a guess and it may not even make that much sense
On another note i work in a HiFi/AV shop and the amount of times Sky have installed HD boxes into peoples houses and left them running through RF only is shocking!

Hmm, maybe some sort of conflict between the Tv and box.
You set the box at one res, have you check the info/setup menu on your TV to see if it says the same as what the box is set at (i.e 1080i or 720p, 720i etc).
Worth trying out another cable to see if its that. Otherwise its either your box is duff or your TV is, or they don't like talking to each other.
As an interesting side note. I have a panasonic upscaling DVD recorder which throughputs the video from the CATV box (non HD) via scart. which in turn is connected from the DVD recorder to the TV via HDMI and Scart. Now whenever I access menus on the DVD player; it auto switches from HDMi to scart. When I exit the menu, it switches back to HDMi...odd
