Default Pea wet and scraps

Was working up north earlier this week and a couple of guys were reminiscing about 'pea wet and scraps'. Sounded foul.

I dont really like peas but know loads of people who have pea wet, as for scraps, I thought I was the only person who didnt like them.

Gotta be the northerners though cause thats where the best chippies are. Hollands pies and puddings

scraps as a kid, but I can afford full bag of chips now, pea wet is quite common around wigan which is not to far from me. Give me good ole chips and curry anyday (not currently whilst dieting though!!)

Scottish have got to be the worst though, ice cream in batter and deep fried mars bars

I hate scraps, I don't like chips much either, especially from the oop norf chippies who cook everything in beef fat. Yuk. I like mushy peas though

I had a deep fried macaroni pie in Scotland Gross

The way it was described to me:
Pea wet - water that rises to the surface in a vat of mushy peas
Scraps - offcuts of fat saturated chips

Scraps are bits of batter that collect in the bottom of the fryer in chip shops basically

Scraps in my chippy was the tiny crunchy chips and bits of fish batter you'd get for free or for a couple of pence... They were great crunchy yumyums...
I knew the owner of our local chippy and so got free potato fritters (or scollops / specials as they are known round these parts) instead!

Pea Wet sounds like the slurry of the very needy That was never asked for in my neck of the woods It sounds like something I do in my trousers after 14 pints

I used to get the odd bag of scraps. I don;t think we called them scraps. I can;t remember what name we gave to them now. Anyway, this was in North London, so it can be had dahn sarf is you know where to go.

Even more bizarre was when I took my mate from stockport to the local Kebab shop after the pub and he asked for.....

A Kebab-o-muffin.

I looked at him like he had just told me he had given the queen one up the wrong'un.

I mean what kind of madness is that?

Anyway, turns out it was doner kebab meat in a bun

Kebab-o-muffin.

I ask you.

If you're getting bits of chip in your scraps ask for your money back, that's just not right! Scraps are just left over batter
