Hotels in New York
Her indoors has been wanting to go to NY for a while, so I thought I'd sell the kids and take her there for a few days next month. She will probably want to do the s****** thing and see the interesting bits. I have no idea what the interesting bits might be, nor where the shopp*** might be at. Any suggestion for hotels near the sh***ing and stuff? (I would be particularly grateful to hear from wimmins who have been, cos AFAIK us menfolk only understand shopping when it involves the words 'toys' or 'increased acceleration'

We've stayed in the Intercontinental and it's awesome. About 5 mins walk from time square and 2 mins walk from sachs 5th Ave. Central park is about a 10 min walk. Great location and on Park ave...

I was in NY in Nov 2002. I went to the top of the Empire State and was rather disturbed to see them selling VERY tacky momentos for 9/11. First of all I thought they were all tacky and tasteless and secondly, when you're at the top of another very tall building it it doesn't do anything to calm your nerves!

Go up the Rockefeller tower - you can get pix of the Empire State from it!
Personally we found C21 a right pikey jumble sale. Not even half the stuff was on hangers.
Pony trap ride round Central Park is nice. Saks, Bergdorf Goodman and Jimmy Choo all close together but Choo is a lot more expensive than the UK even with a good exchange rate as are Mulberry and Armani. Sarabeths on Central Park south is excellent for brunch and Quality Meats is a very good steak restaurant (57West 58th) and has an amazing wine list

I think for the average women it may not be that great, and for men fashion is always easier to buy.
For kids stuff it's pretty fantastic, especially Rocawear, Sean John, Timberland, Ralph Lauren Polo. We bought our 2yo's entire wardrobe for £75 to last him a whole year.
