SPOILER

I thought it was great! Sure, initially it's left you gasping, but on reflection, if you look at it a bit deeper, it's tells you everything you need to know.

It's all come full circle, from the very beginning to here, it's complete......

I don't want to say too much that may give anything away, SPOILER labeled or not, but it was a very clever way to end it, we all got sucked in and we were shown this was a show about Tony and his family first and foremost, it wasn't ever really a MOB SHOW!

Nah, I don't see how anymore, unfortunately. That would be purely profit driven (at the moment, at least) , and they're all to "artsy" for that!

But there’s always the much-mooted Sopranos movie, isn’t there? Don’t say it’s the end, David…

"We haven’t talked about it in a long time. … It’s hard to see how it
would work. I think what we’re going to be doing the next
year and a half would have been that movie."

So that means season six would have been the movie? I read another interview where he said he wanted to do a movie, but would only do it if it was absolutely worthwhile and justified artistically. He wanted to go back and do a filler, but problems with young cast members ages. There is talk of a prequel based in the 60's with Junior and Johnny, but as far as The Sopranos as we know it, I doubt greatly we'll see a film.

There's a new show just started on HBO called JOHN FROM CINCINNATI that looks very good.......

Do you assume he got shot in the head by the guy who went into the toilet?

Ah.

I wasn't sure to be honest. My thinking was the way the camera kept focusing on different people in the diner, one of them was a hit man. Then when it ended with Tony looking up after that guy at the bar had gone to the toilet, and the screen going black, I thought that was meant to be Tony dying...

I'd rather go with your option though, as that leaves a tiny possibility of a movie

Watched it in NY when it was premiered.... front page of every paper, death threats to HBO, cancelled subscriptions...

Its interesting. Leaves it wide open for more.
But the fact it held the black for just a few seconds implies that tony got clipped.
As the creator said, the spopranos has never been black and white /clear cut with regards to some of the stories. This is just a continuation of that.

I think its clever- but has pissed a lot of people off!
