Recommend me some sci-fi books.
Currently reading through Peter F Hamilton - just have one of his shorter books to go!
Really enjoying them.
Can anyone recommend another author to try?

Iain M Banks, he is the current sci-fi god. I highly recommend Excession, Consider Phlebas, Use of Weapons and The Player Of Games.
Alastair Reynolds, start with Revelation Space.
Joe Halderman - The Forever War
China Mieville - Perdigo St Station.
Michael Marshall Smith - Only Forward, Spares & One Of Us.
James Blish - Cities In Flight
Daniel Keyes - Flowers For Algernon
Both the Vernor Vinge books mentioned earlier and Eon by Greg Bear.
Kurt Vonnegut - The Sirens Of Titan
Robert Heinlein - Starship Troopers (different to the film).
Dan Simmons - The Hyperion Omnibus
Alfred Bester - The Stars My Destination.

Your probably not into Warhammer 40K but the books are very good. With a family I don't have time to paint and play anymore so I just read the books and play the computer game "Dawn of War"
The Horus Hersey series isn't bad for giving you some background as to why the Imperium is in its current state.

Ben Bova is quite a good read. Very light reading, and quite moorish. Look for books on Saturn, Mars, Venus and the moon series as well as asteroid wars. I have pretty much the full collection and they interwine a fair bit. It;s best to start with the moon and work through the rest of his planet books.
If you like sci-fi you'll love ben Bova.

I particularly liked "The end of eternity" by Isaac Asimov, and also recommend his "I,Robot" and "The rest of the Robots". Neither are like the silly film with Will Smith.
Try also "The Pawns of Null A", "The World of Null A" and "Null A Three" by AE Van Vogt.

Another vote for Iain Banks, I particularly like Against a Dark Background and the short stories collection State of the Art.
When you say you've read all of Peter F. Hamilton then make sure that includes his original three books, Nanoflower, Quantum Murder and Mindstar Rising, all excellent.
For a left field recommendation try Terry Pratchett's couple of serious (ish) non-discworld proper scifi books, Strata and The Dark Side of the Sun. Both really good.
