The monument is quite good, about 3 quid to go up.
HMS Belfast is quite good - it's BIG and not too busy. Eight quid or so to get on.
The Science Museum and NH Museum are both good, but get busy on Saturdays.
Tower of London is OK - but this too also gets really busy. Expensive - fouteen quid or so
It's trooping the colour season - there are a couple of reherseals over the next couple of weeks Trooping the Colour event details
This is worth a look if you go by train
Days Out Guide
Didn't like the Eye. Too long to wait, boring after 20 mins or so

Shame you didn't go to Greenwich a couple of days ago.....massive bbq apprantley.
There is a Star Wars exhibition on London County Hall near the London Eye. Looks really good. Dunno how much it costs.

I'd steer clear of the science museum. They have had the same attractions for over 10 years.
In a world of wifi and megabytes, the science museum is starting to look and feel old.

I took my daughter to London for the first time when she was 6 and she loved it. We did the following:
Train to Charring Cross on a 1 day family Travel Card so all tube rides were included)
Tube to Oxford Circus and walked down Regent Street doing the obligatory 1 hour in Hamleys.
Lunch at Piccadily Circus
Walked up The Mall to Buckingham Palace for Changing of the Guard etc (appeals to girls probably more than boys as it involves Kings and Queens etc.)
Walked down Horseguards Parade (I think) to Westminster Bridge to see Big Ben, Houses of Parliament.
Tube to South kensington and did the Natural History Museum, Had to buy her a bottle of coke at this point as she was flagging a bit but once the Caffeine kicked in we were off again.
Tube back down to Charring Cross and walked round to Trafalgar Square.
Train Ride home with one very tired six year old.
Next trip has got to include London Eye and Science Museum and probably another trip round Hamleys.

The new stuff is geared for those with an attention span of a gnat and don't like to think too hard.
The Spifire exhibition was about the best thing. The Space floor is good, but it was closed off.

I like Greenwich and go there a lot, cos I live a couple of miles away. Lovely park as well as the other things, although no Cutty Sark just now.
It is miles from central london though, and although it's easier to get there these days on the DLR, it might not be much fun dragging a couple of young lads across town!
Worth a visit though, especially if maritime history is a winner.

I took my son and his cousin, both 10, to the Imperial War Museum at the Easter Break.
They'd had enough after about 15 mins. IMHO, there just wasn't enough to keep younger kids interested. There aren't that many tanks/planes/boats there and they soon got bored of all the uniforms, weapons, stories, etc.
