Has someone on here won the lottery?
Someone on here has recently:
1). Purchased a near new M5
2). In the process of buying another car for HIS mum
3). Putting an extension on his house
4). Fitted a nice kitchen, and is asking around about a decent AV set-up
hmmmmm..... spill the beans fella.

If say this 'person' is astute with his cash (as I suspect he is!), it can go a long long way, plus without meaning to sound condescending in any way, the M5 is probably on a finance package, and the extension maybe is financed through a remortgage. Who knows, Im just guessing, but Ive bought a brand new car (cash), a flat (mortgage), done the kitchen and bathroom on my own house (cash), have been on 2 quality hols(cash), have paid for my parents to go on hols (cash!)- all in 1 year -and I probably earn less than Dr Singh!

its because the average person squanders their money down the pub, and buying/wasting money on things that arent necessary.
Those who are wise with their money, and can budget well can afford such luxurious. It does help for mr deep to make a rather healthy annual sum being a doctor though also.

Well done that man/doctor! It shows that with hard work, you can have the luxurious in life. I knew I shouldn't have been an Accountant.

Hey whats going on around here? I feel a little odd having this thread discussing me!
No, not won the lottery! Should add though:
1) Car: pure extravagance. Can't justify it any other way!
2) Extension/kitchen. I bought the house 3 years ago, knowing it needed a complete refurb, I figured that into my expenses.
Also I didn't spend a penny on my previous property for 12 years as I knew I would move. It was falling to pieces by the time I left.
3) Haven't bought any AV equipment since I was at Uni ie 13 years ago. Apart from the odd £100 dvd player.
So for 2) and 3) I'm making that once in 15 years big splurge, then won't spend another penny on such things for the next decade.
