Asimov Wept: or "The strange case of the ubiquitous Audi TT in drag".
I've just finished watching "I, Robot", and I can honestly say I cannot adequately convey my complete horror at the level of flawedness in this film. I actually experienced vertigo whilst standing on the multiple precipices of gaping plot-chasms. Every model of Audi that exists actively SCREAMED its presence in every scene, behind Valerie Singleton constructed body-kits, including the Nuvolari concept (unless I'm very much mistaken).
As a result of this film I suspect that the rotational velocity attained by Dr. Asimov within his resting place, if properly harnessed, could feasibly supply the energy requirement of our planet for many Millennia to come.
What a fecking pile of ****e.

...it's pants. You should have watched Cold Mountain.
That's pants too, but it has a cool US Civil War battle scene at the start. For people like me who remember collecting Civil War cards this counts for a lot!

Unfortunately, we got a hackneyed rehashing of the Frankenstein Complex.

It starred Will Smith and an android, what did you expect? Smith was comprehensively outshone by the android.

Exactly and its not supposed ot be anything more than that. I watched it and enjoyed it because I don't have to sit there and analyse every single scene for holes in the plot.

I have to admit that I enjoyed it. Seen it before, but only this time did I notice the Audi "involvement"!

Here's a plot-hole for you; it was never satisfactorily explained why the robotics professor had to commit suicide to get the attention of Will Smith. Why didn't he just TELL him what was going on?

Anyway, I took it as I saw it, light entertainment, a bit if fun action movie.
If you want proper sci-fi then read some decent books. Films like the Matrix, I robot are rather feeble when it comes to proper sci-fi but superficially good entertainment to take it as that, nothing more.

..because really, deep down, you couldn't understand it and need the plot explained to you?

They make movies like that to generate income, nothing more. Simply playing to the market.
I'm surprised that you expected a big budget movie to be anything other than the usually hollywood "big on visual entertainment and action scenes but with a watered down plot" to be honest.
Taken like that, I robot was decent enough.

i made the wife watch it as she was pissing me off and i thought it might "teach her a lesson"
however it simply reminded me (and ecucated her) of the fact this film is complete and utter drivvel from start to finish
so bad Will Smith did'nt even bother to shoot his gun sideways!!
