Have Telewest lost the plot? Please read!
I've just got off the phone to Telewest (finally got through after lots of engaged tone). I asked them what they were going to do to keep me as a customer. They offered me a discount of £9 / month off the XL package that costs £20.50 / month.
I was expecting that to be it, but then the woman goes on to say the discount will be applied every month for six months, until the shows 24, lost etc are shown on Telewest later in the year.
I can't see why they are willing to loose £54 from me for six months, when they wouldn't pay another 90p a month to Sky to keep Sky One etc. Someone please explain the logic in that.
Spread the word that this discount is available. If Virgin's 3.3 million customers claim this discount, Branson will wish that he'd accepted Sky's 90p / month increase.
I'm p1ssed off that us customers weren't given the option of what we'd like to do. They could have easily done a web poll to see what our opinions were. I hope it costs Branson big time!
Cheers

Exactly...and if Branson was on the other side of the table he would be doing exactley the same at Rupert Murdock. Look at the size of Branson's empire, give him another 10 years and he'll be supplying Virgin Nuclear power, Virgin water and probably Virgin Bioethanol fuel.

I rang them last night and asked them what they were going to give me as compensation due to losing Sky one etc. They upgraded me to the large TV package with all channels for only £1 extra a month. Keeps me happy

Well, I had James Murdoch (CEO of Sky) standing at the end of my desk yesterday, and what he had to say on the situation was interesting.
Certainly a lot of unhappy Virgin customers....and the Sky call centres are getting a LOT of volume in the last 2 days.
As with everything, 2 sides to every story, and I'm fairly neutral to the whole thing really.

No, not really. Just the usual super-energetic form typical of most CEOs
He did have a VERY well tailored suit though.......
As he said, the only loser in all of this is the consumer.....but going one on one with a globally well recognised brand such as Virgin certainly seems to be something quite exciting for him.
