Where did you go on your honeymoon?

Why not check into the nearest hotel to your home and save yourself a fortune. All these silly people that fly thousands of miles and not see anything outside the hotel room for 2 weeks.

Heathrow to Calgary, Calgary to Vancouver by train through Rockies, Vancouver for a few days then to Vancouver Island by helicopter for whale watching etc. Cruise from Vancouver to Alaska and back. No beaches, lots of scenery and wildlife if you like that sort of thing.

And did you enjoy it?
I'm planning ours, and we're a bit stuck for ideas. Not interested in the USA or getting burned and bored on a beach, which cuts out a lot. Two weeks duration (probably rules out South Pacific due to jetlag). I wondered about Thailand.
Here's to another Scoobynet Survey!

Flew into Jo-burg , few days there , up to Botswana for 3 days on Game reserve , back to Joburg , up to Zimbabwe to stay at Vic Falls ( mental white water rafting ), off down to cape town to 'visit' some wineries and all that kind of malarkey.
Well cool.

Not married yet but did have a cracking Hol in northern Italy on Lake Garda. Fantastic place, not too hot and no noisy clubs, it's an 18-30 no no and within an hours drive of Venice, Verona etc.

Me and Miss SWRTWannabe are tying the knot in April, and we are planning to go to Florida. After September 11th and the anthrax outbreaks, they'll almost be paying us to go.
We didn't fancy the Carribean as the foreign office website says don't go out at night, and warns of civil unrest. Guess a lot of it just comes down to common sense, but didn't want to risk it for our honeymoon.
Tried to get the other half to agree to go to Corsica but she immediately sussed that it might coincide with the rally

Two honeymoons (Same wife )
After the wedding (July) spent two weeks doing the "Coast To Coast" walk in reverse (Robin Hood's Bay - St. Bee's Head) staying in B&Bs, Hotels, Pubs etc. About 200 miles over 3 National Parks. Very enjoyable and cathartic. Planning/logistics was fun too.
Following March, went to NZ for 3.5 weeks (need more than 2 weeks to do it IMHO). Awesome place - tempted to emigrate. Went via Singapore which was lovely too.

Same as Puff ... two honeymoons!
Got married last year in October and with the missus being Croatian we had to stay in the UK - she could leave the country but not come back in as her visa only allowed one entry at the time ( ... a trip abroad obviously appealed!! ).
We went to Angelsey in North Wales and stayed in a 16th Century Hall in Beaumaris. It may not sound nice as Wales in October ... but the weather was great, the hotel was super ( great view over the castle, Menai Straights and its 18 hole golf course - although I had to leave the clubs at home as she wouldn't caddy!! ) and the sites to visit up there are lovely.
However, we are planning a proper honeymoon late next year to the Maldives ... can't wait.
Cheers
Phil
