Went last October, I thought it was fantastic place. Few pointers I would suggest is stay away from the east side of the island as it is very windy. I chouse the North West and will definately go back there. It is great to go out of the hotel for shopping, sightseeing and drinks. If any of those are important Grand Baie is a good place to look for when selecting a hotel. It is a medium sized town I loved going down for a beer at night in the local bars etc.
The capital is good for a day out, i didn't do much else but scuba dive.

I stayed here all inclusive
Naiade Resort - Merville Beach in Mauritius - hotel in mauritius
I couldn't really fault it but the food did get a bit tedius after 2 weeks. The free watersports are great.
Also, from my experience of Mauritius always go All Inclusive, in most hotels this works out about £30 a day. at Merville beach a beer from the bar if you wern't all in cost 5euros. Throw in breakfast, lunch a few soft drinks and beers each day and you soon spend way more than £30 as everything seemed expensive. I went out for food some nights and it was cheap, pound for a beer and a chinese for tenner.

Carla, Rach and I went here Maritim Hotel, Mauritius, Indian Ocean and Sub Continent - Mauritius, Indian Ocean and Sub Continent travel holidays at Tropical Sky was brilliant.
They cant do enough for you and there is 9 holes for Gav. Would have put this on Honeymoon list if hadnt done it. Daughter used to go riding on the beach on the hotels horses.
Friend of Rach's mum and Dad go 2/3 times a year and is buying a boat out there at present.
