Letter from ITVDigital (ONDigital as was)
#1
Has anyone else got a letter from them, regarding pirate cards?
For those that haven't it basically says how pirate cards are a bad thing and possibly funded by organised crime and urge people to report anyone using or selling them, which is fair enough.
It then says that, if they want, they can just replace the cards with uncopyable ones and that the pirate cards may push up costs for legitimate users. Following this they talk about how they are using sophisticated surveillance and have raided premises and confiscated equipment(!)
The whole letter seems really strange and makes me wonder if it is a fully authorised letter as it seems very poorly thought out and signed by a call centre manager?
If this is such a problem, surely they should replace the cards ASAP (like Sky had to)? Threatening legitimate users with increased subscriptions seems a bit disingenuous, particularly as Sky seems better value already. But the tone of the remainder of the letter where they actually say "we have made several raids on premises" and "we have confiscated equipment" just seem riduculous, unless they've been granted new powers I'm not aware of?
Does anyone else think the letter is a bit strange, even whiny?
All the best,
Dean

I got one and yes it did seem a bit odd. As you say if it is such a problem they should replace the cards, kind of makes you wonder if they are in a position to take that course I imagine it would be expensive, it could just be preparation work for an intended price hike (who's a cynic?)If they put the cost up they'll loose me for sure, they probably will anyway. I bought an integrated IDTV (Phillips) with a years subscription and it still isn't right after nearly a year but the software has gone from development to testing!! And the signals not too good in Peterboro, should have gone with Sky?

Home Cinema Choice magazine this month said that ITV digital are in severe difficulties, roughly 80% chance of them going bust next year.
Sky digital will have ITV on the network before Christmas, the test transmissions have already started.

LOL @ "Rupert"
Apparently prices have already risen? I've just been told the minimum package is now well over a hundred quid, plus they want a £25 setup fee (what!)?
I hope ITV have got a lot of advertising revenue in reserve!
Cheers,
Dean
