pslewis, for once, does have a point here. Yes the govt. do take a lot of money for each litre you buy, however the rises/falls you see have very little to do with duty/tax. Obviously the stupid here won't read and take note and have a winge just for the sake of it (now where is ub? ).

Anyway, are these falls a success for TB and his actions in Iraq? All those deaths are now worth it now we have petrol at 10p a litre cheaper

What PSL misses (intentionally no doubt) is that when crude was on the increase people were suggesting that the government adjusted the amount of tax they applied on petrol to stop the increases from being so great, much like the French government did.

It's come down enough so NL can now bung another 2p a litre on in tax without many people noticing... crafty buggers!!

86.9 for UL around SE Kent, still far too high.

How did NL do that when it is up to the oil companies and the basic price of crude PSL? Its not what they want anyway because they lose out on the duty and VAT windfall with higher prices.

The environment has become such a hot political potato (again) that the fuel escalator is almost bound to be re-introduced, regardless of which party comes in to power.

Which is a shame, as it won't make any difference. Until the US, China, India etc. start to do their bit, then we may as well start building house boats.

Still, it's a good excuse for any government to take money out of people's pockets.
