should i get angry and demand more??
i have an electric meter in my house which was there when i moved in, what with all the price increases i thought i would get rid of it and then i could change my service provider and get a better deal and pay quarterly......
i have been on the phone to Powergen and have found out that i owe them £400 even though i pay for an electric card in the shop and put it in the meter, i pay for what i use
it turns out that during the last seven price increases my meter has only been adjusted once, not seven times as it should have been
so now i am being told that i cannot have the meter removed until the debt is paid. i argued with the silly cow on the phone and was offered a 20% reduction on the £400 bill, i asked to speak to a manager and was offered a 50% reduction on the bill. i want to change my service provider but i am not allowed to do that if i have a meter installed and i cant get it removed until the debt is paid off. i asked for the ombudsman's phone number and was told that i have to contact Energy Watch...........but the manager i spoke to said his manager will call me this afternoon
i should not owe anything as it is Powergens mistake............am i liable for this bill?
advise please

Phone energywatch http://www.energywatch.org.uk/ they got money back which British gas were trying to rob from me.
My dispute went on with BG for months, Energywatch sorted it out within a week

Its their fault, so they should sort it
You shouldn't have to pay anything if it's their **** up & they admit to it
Put it in writing, send it recorded delivery (so someone signs for it) and go from there, it's ok them admitting they are wrong on the phone, but it wont stand up if you need to take it further

good news, ive just had a call from Powergen and they are wiping the whole debt
i was all prepared to go mental and draw blood as well
as soon as the system shows my account is clear i will get rid of Powergen
another good thing that came out of this is that i have saved £400 as my meter wasnt set high enough to recover the price increases
i cant believe hoe easily they backed down though
