Builder is taking the pee-Council not interested
We live on an old farm. Green Belt area and part of the Great North Forest area. The builder got permission to change an old barn into a house.
The barn was duly pulled down (against green belt regulations) and permission was granted to re build as a dwelling.
The dwelling is going up as a Timber Frame and is almost twice as big as the original planning permission allowed.
The Council is either turning a blind eye or is being paid off.
What can we do????
btw, the same Council expects us to ask permission to change our farm gate to Iron ones

However, it is not being built according to the plans we viewed. It is much bigger and higher and is looking rather imposing.
As I said, the Council appears to be turning a blind eye to what is going on.

Have you checked that there hasn't been a revision to the plans that has been approved after you looked at the plans?
If the building is not being built to the approved plans, I would expect the council to take it very seriously.
John.

You say the Council is "turning a blind eye".
Have you reported your concerns, because as stated above, there may have been a revision. A change in footprint should have been picked up by the buildings inspector when he signed off the footings.

The building inspector will have a separately submitted set of plans, so he'll only notice a difference if he has the smaller plans.
