Inverter (Cigarette Lighter power adaptor)
Hello
I was looking for something to power my computer whilst on the move, and someone in the computer forum suggusted an inverter.
The only one I can find that isn't mail order (I want to go and get it) is the one at Argos and that seems like overkill (350W! : http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Produc...er/7500101.htm), can anyone suggest anywhere else?
Thanks.
Steve

I always think it's crazy using an inverter to power a laptop because the laptop probably runs off 12V DC anyway. You will be stepping up to 240V and then your laptop's power pack will reduce it back to 12V!
Something like this:

ought to be more efficient!

I got one from my local shell garage with the shell points I had accumulated by buying petrol, think it was only about 4000 points, maybe take a look in their catalogue and see if they have one, our shell garage had them in stock and on the shelf but mine has German sockets on it so no point sending you one.

I also have a 12 volt ciggy lighter power supply for my HP laptop, I suspect any laptop manufacturer will offer the same thing, I can use mine in the car or a plane.

Hello
Thank you for your replies. Yes the laptop one is what I was originally after. However I then got excited about charging my mobile phone, my DSLite and other things that I would have to buy different adaptors for.

I'm sure I have one kicking around from my car AV set up that I never did fit.
I had good intentions of running a PS2 but never bothered.
Give me a shout if you want details.
Paul.
