anyone eaten at the oxo Tower in London?
It's my mum's 60th birthday and retirement next month, so naturally I'm planning something special.
Part of it will be a nice dinner in London, and although it's probably not somewhere I would choose myself, I thought a window seat at the top of the oxo Tower at dusk would be pretty special. every time she has visited London she has always commented on how beautiful the building is, and how lovely it must be to eat there.
I must say I haven't heard particularly good things about the food, but it will be as much for the experience as the food. also, to be fair my mum doesn't exactly get out much, so I imagine the food will be pretty impressive to her anyway
if anybody has any feedback it would be greatly appreciated.
Also a rough idea of cost per head?
thanks
Ed

Used to work in the city, eaten there a couple of times. Very nice, very expensive. Like all girls, its more the occasion, the dressing up, the whole going out somewhere nice, expensive, more than the food.
She will love it.

There's a really quite posh restaurant bit (jacket required) and a more casual bistro or something (edit - that's the brasserie). It's quite nice and there's a definite sense of occasion.
This info is a few years old mind you.
You might think about Tower 42 - champagne bar at the very top or a Gary Rhodes restaurant on the 24th. Good views, although not the river view from Oxo... I think all the tables can see out though from one side at least as well, not sure about Oxo on the front.

Caveat - not been to OXO for a few years as no longer in London.
Been to both OXO & Twr42 & would have to say that I prefer OXO. Found Twr42 a bit "too" sterile/lacking character other than the view. OXO is more bustling/exciting and I think that the ambience/view is better with the Thames in the foreground & St Pauls etc. I think being more or less on the same level as opposed to above makes it. Recommend the al-fresco, just got to hope its a warm night!
Enjoy
