Teeth Veneers

Teeth Veneers
Anyone had them done ? What was the cost and any downside. I was thinking of it to smarten up years of tea, beer and wine abuse. Just all the front ones.

It's something I thought about the efficacy of recently (or rather in my case to have a front tooth re-capped because I reckon the materials and techniques will have improved since the existing (crooked) one was done). but whenever I've seen veneers done, the effect has not looked natural. The extra thickness of the veneers pushes out the lip and the too-even appearance just shouts "VENEERS".
There are probably ****-hot dentists that can do it and make it look entirely natural and unnoticable, mind.

I had my top/front four done about 8 years ago, cost £1000ish and have been perfect, no drawbacks, although I am obviously careful about crunching things like boiled sweets with them.

What's the difference between bleaching and veneering?
Hang on, I'm going to get laughed off the board for that...
What's the end-product difference? Won't bleaching clear camk's problem, whereas veneers sound fragile?

I'd go for bleaching *almost* all of the time to give a better appearence.........
I spend quite a bit of "time picking up the pieces" when people have gone for a "hollywood smile" with veneers or crowns !!

I had my teeth sorted a couple of years ago, I had veneers on the top four front teeth and the rest bleached to get rid of yellow staining from years of smoking. The front ones needed veneers as the enamel was very thin and had worn away in places, my teeth had an almost translucent look which was awful.
The veneers are great and I'm really pleased I had them. My dentist matched them perfectly to the colour of the rest of my teeth. You do have to be a bit more careful when biting into things like apples - I know of a woman who pulled a veneer off by biting into a cold chunky KitKat
Choose your dentist carefuly, I've seen veneers that are far too white and don't match the rest of the teeth.
Mine cost £1000 for the four and look like they've always been there

I have 2 veneers, which I think were done about 17 years ago (when still at school).
One looks perfect and the other is not as good.
The thing I don't like is that they make the teeth look bigger than they originally were
