Thumbs up i hope i have done the right thing....

i have managed to change my Road Angel sat-nav for the Indago Snooper.

i have found that the RA didnt do what it was meant to do and so they have finally offered to swap it for the Indago snooper

i should get it in a couple of days. has anyone used both of these units and have i got a good deal?

My prediction is you won't understand how to use this one either and will end up taking it back within a week

i will give you an example.....last week i went to Great Ormond Street hospital , but when i returned to my car the unit wouldnt locate the satelites for about 40 minutes. it was a clear sunny day with lots of sky above me. i always get lost in London so i didnt want to risk driving without it working. i rang Black Spot as i kept getting a no entry symbol on the screen. they told me that the satelites wouldnt locate if there were buildings around. this unit is advertised as portable and can be used if you are a pedestrian. it is very unlikely that i am going to be on foot in the middle of an open field.

Does this one come with a big ladder to find the satellites?

Sara - these things only work if you know where you're going.

Everybody knows that

Problems with finding satellites in built up areas is common to pretty well all GPS devices, the narrower the street and higher the buildings the worse it is.

While you may like walking in the middle of cities, us country bumkins prefer walking in smog and building free fields!

my gps /sat nav went **** up on sunday in a valley in Southern Germany and it was not a particularly narrow valley, it lost sat cover then spun around lots as it could not lock onto 3d worth of sats then it proceeded to show me as being 200m to the left of the road I was actually on.

Onyl when I had cleared the valley did it get its act together.

my sisters tomtom only takes a few seconds to work and it works in built up areas

and the horrible embedded switch on mine isnt finger nail friendly

The RA Navigator get a slating in EVO mag this month (Ferrari 550 long term test)
There is mention of updated software to sort out teething problems but this wont change the biggest fault of the unit - its GPS "lock on" speed, which is fankly a joke. How come TTGo's can lock on in seconds ?

Unhappy

Had the same problem with my Navman unit in the lake district, it didnt like all the hills!

Anyway they arent much use in London as TFL change all the one way systems every three weeks to p*ss away the fortune made on the congestion charge and then the units only route you on the grid locked main roads.

Not much good if it wont find the satellites, that can be down to a poor aerial or connector,

My earlier Snooper has no problem with the sateliites in clear or built up areas. Hope your new one works as well Sara.
