As above really. I know there is no definite answer to this. It's just James has been trying to pull himself up for the past month or so and just wondered when he is likely to actually be able to sit up.

Thanks

Our youngest was able to stand holding onto furniture by 7 months. She stood holding onto furniture for another 8 months before she took a step

I'm 43, and I still often need to hold the furniture, or lay on the couch to keep me steady

Well my son James still struggles to sit up.

I gave him a shout this morning - "come on James - time to get up. Please sit up so I know you're not going back to sleep....."

And he is 18 (years)

My boy was sitting at about 5 months I think, with cushions behind for when he toppled over. Standing about 9 months, walking at about 11 months. But they are all different which is what makes it such fun! Don't get hung up on NHS targets, they are just a guide!

Don't forget to teach him baby signing then you can let him know what the targets are.

With patience you can get your little babies to have constructive dialogue from somewhere between 9-12 months!

My lad was sitting up at 5 months (with a cushion behind him), then crawling at 7 months and finally walking at 10 month (now he's 16 months he just runs everywhere!!). One of those BUMBO things is great training for them to sit up (like a foam chair, but quite pricey).

I agree with a number of other comments on this thread and that is to not worry too much about when it should be done - each kid is different and they'll do it when they can (or want to!)

LOL you sound just like my misses she had all the books and if Christopher (our first one now just 3) didnt do something within a week of the supposedly "target dates" to walk talk etcetera she would be whittling and threatening to take him to the doctors.
In the end i had to threaten to burn the books
