Your forgetting the opening title shots to "The Cannonball run"
First thing you hear is the glorious sound of a Lambo V12. Then you see a gorgeous Countach in Black, driven by 2 Lovely ladies, being chased by the cops in a Trans Am.
I know it's not the best car chase film, but I just love it.
The Title music is also one of my favorites. Ever time I watch it I get goosebumps.

Whats the film with the audi A8 with nitrous etc, mainly set in france - for the life of me I can't remember the name of it. They start out in Paris and then on down to the south of france and have a mad chase down there.
Theirs a russian ice skater involved and she nearly gets killed by a sniper towards the end, think Robert De Niro or Al Pacino are one of the lead characters.
Dooooooooooooooooooooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh - whats it called???????????????
Best chase film ever IMHO.

The Blues Brothers
Elwood:It's 106 miles to Chicago, we've got a full tank of gas, half a pack of cigarettes, it's dark and we're wearing sunglasses.

Surprised there's a moderately famous one involving 3 mini coopers, a bus and Turin (IIRC?) that is missing from this list so far . . . . (and yes I do mean the original!)

Yep, Ronin has to be the choice for me, very well filmed!
Subway, the French film with Christophe Lambert has a great opening car chase (early Luc Besson)
Taxi (en Francais)
Which Bond had the Renault 5 GT Turbo?

The underground carpark scene in The Driver. With the shiny new orange Mercedes. Which didn't stay shiny for long.
"You work for a piece, right?"
"$10,000 upfront. Against 15%"
"How do we know you're that good???"
(pause)
"Get in".
Legendary.

French Connection
The Transporter (poor film but some great car scenes!)
For Your Eyes Only in the Citroen Dolly (whatever the real name for that thing was!) and the Esprit.
These weren't the greatest, but enjoyable none the less!!!

Agree with Ronin. Quality driving.
Anyone with the DVD would have seen the extras when they tell you how they filmed it all, which is almost as impressive... stunning stuff
