Default Anyone had their tonsils out?

Mrs has been advised to get hers removed (due to her snoring!) but the Doc. has advised that the pain & discomfort is a lot worse once you have these removed as an adult (comparing against a child having them out).

Also was advised that min. of 2 weeks off work?

Experiences please!

I had mine out when I was 17 or 18. The Doc warned me about it hurting more as you get older. It was uncomforable, especially the first few days.
Hope she is all right.

Had mine done in early 20's - was told the same as you. Was uncomfortable but not unbearable for 3 days and slightly sore for a day or so after.

Was signed off for 2 weeks but had no pain at all after 6 days so went back to work.

HTH

Had mine done a couple of months ago. I'm 27.

The pain wasn't nearly as bad as I was expecting... either most people are soft or I had a very good surgeon! I did take two weeks off because I didn't want to go any big ventilated offices and risk an infection, but i was working from home towards the end of the first week.

Someone who I met on the ward ended up staying in for three weeks after the same procedure because of complications, so don't rule out that possibility
