Default Banking a cheque?

How long does a cheque last if it hasnt been banked..just found one from October 05 that i havent put in.
Will it be ok?

if you can get in contact with whoever wrote the cheque, you may be able to persuade them to replace it

giro-cheques only last 4 weeks

6 months is right but that doesn't matter if you can get it past the teller. When it gets to the bank that it is drawn against they won't even look at it if it's under £10k.

I recently asked this question in my youngest's bank, (HSBC): after much checking, they announced that the life of a cheque is now indefinite
