Unhappy Sky News what are they trying to do :(

Cutting edge reporting, world class news, finger on the pulse.

Unfortunatly none of these descirbe Sky news,

Today i saw what i can only describe as possibly the worst piece of live reporting ever.

It wasnt reporting, it was just reporting anything to maintain a presence, and to put somthing on air.

The piece was so embarrasing, my wife commented on it also.

If you didnt see it i will enlighten you.

The 11 am hospital report on Ariel Sharon.

the reporter cut to the hospital spokesman who gave a report in (correct me if i,m wrong in either hebrew or arabic) on Ariel Sharon's condition, what followed was the most appaling reporting ever,

You couldnt make it up, it went something like this.

"i am reporting on erm the condition of Ariel Sharon, erm he had a cat scan erm, the brain is swelling, erm he had a cat scan, erm conditon stable erm, he is expected to erm fuuthers tests erm, cat scan, erm

and so on, it was painfull. and just when you thought it couldnt get any worse.

The spokesman finished his interview, and walked to another area, when the sky anchor proudly proclaimed.

"he's now hoing to give the report in English, but we dont need to stay wioth him, as we allready have had the report"

wtf??? who are sky news reporting to?? the people who speak jewish, wouldnt have needed any translation, and for the sake of 5 minutes, we could have had a perfect english version.

just shows its not news there reporting its just putting there presence there.

anyone else see this ?

I like the way that it had to be SO bad for your wife to pick up on it.

Surely he was simply trying to remember and translate what had just been said in a foreign language?

To add, perhaps he didn't realise an English version would be read after.

it was a woman reporter, and isnt that part of the job, knowing what will or wont be said,

this is world news, not local reporting,

it wouldnt have been so bad but every second word was erm

I really don't understnad this country's obsession with News.

Almost every terrestrial channel, the same tosh blurted out of someones arsehole over and over and over every few hours. And to lay it on top, a load of 24hr news channels on Sky reporting on nothing in particular on the same things repeatedly every 30mins.

Perhaps I wouldn't mind if they would report the straight and correct facts, and admit than nothing has happened or changed between now and the previous report. But nooo, they have to update and refresh it all as if something has happened. Blowing everything out of proportion, dramatising and trivialising or just reporting plain Bulls**t and biased opinions on issues for the sakes of attaining viewer ratings and "making" good TV.

I sometimes cannot tell if I'm watching "real" news or have inadvertently switch over to "broken news" on BBC2

Bit like the appalling "Good news, they're alive.....oh no they're dead - sorry" coverage of the yank miners

I find most live reports annoying, only because 99% of them are totally unnecessary. Why send a reporter out to stand somewhere @ 9 or 10pm, when there is absolutely nothing happening at the scene?

It was especially bad during the Buncefield thing. The reporter brought nothing new to the story - "Yes, the fire is still burning" - D'oh! We can quite clearly see that!

Regardless of the sex, you have to consider whether of not the statement was impromptu. I doubt the spokesman would have halted proceedings to have a word with the Sky News reporter regarding the format of the statement, surely getting to hear the news first is important (to Sky, anyway).

As the every second word being 'erm', I can understand that. Trying to recall, translate and then report what was said in a longwinded statement isn't exactly the easiest job in the world.

given that sky are meant to be world class, none of us non hebrew speaking persons, would have minded a 10-15 second delay while it was translated on the fly, and then relayed.

the statement wasnt exactly long winded either.
