Default Have I staved it?

nearly two weeks ago now, I was toy fighting with the other half and I punched his knee a little harder than I intended to (I wasn't even aiming for his knee ); anyway, it sounded like a hallow popping noise and it REALLY hurt.

It is still really sore up the little finger side of my hand especially when I move it certain ways, there is a lump on the side of it and whenever I go out into the cold it makes it ten times worse. It's been nearly two weeks and I am getting a little worried!

i had a lump that moved when i banged my elbow real hard which when touched, felt like punching a desk. but the kump just faded away in a month or so. might be something like this.

Could be one of the small bones in the back of the hand either dislocated or even broken. Serves you right

I think I will get it checked out though, Im not man enough to leave it two weeks - although if it is broken or staved i don't know there is much the can do for it, is there?

You know, I can't actually define staved although I know what it means Gee, Im bright!

staved is when you stretch a tendon or ligament - sounds like it might be dislocated

Here you go
4. To accidently bend back (a finger or toe) and injure the joint at its base.

Example: staved my finger playing netball

Except it was'nt netballs you were trying to hit

Out of curiosity - what would they do if it someone dislocated one of the wee bones in their hand? I imagine they would just leave it to sort itself out?!

LOL Alas

LOL Alas
Nah - They pull your finger in a certain direction and it pops back in. IIRC it will never go back into place itself without some assistance. I dislocated one attached to my middle finger at school. PE teacher thought he was on MASH and decided that field surgery was the only way. After half an hour of complete agony he gave up and sent me to A&E. The nurse gave it a tug - then she got the doctor to relocate my finger - Sorry - had to do that one before someone else did. The nurse pulled my finger and..... I farted... NO - The nurse pulled my finger and the bone relocated with no additional pain

My cousin had a big lump appear on his hand after punching someone when we got jumped on a night out.

After a day or two of pain a trip to a&e for an x-ray revealed he had chipped a section of his knuckle off.
Nothing they could do for it, his hand was splinted and he was given pain killers. He was left with a slightly lumpy knuckle after that, but had no other ill effects beyond the pain for a week or so.

The again - it could be something really really bad - it might be some sort of burrowing insect gone in there to lay its eggs or sumink

Oh yeah, just like earwigs burrow into your ear to feed off the protein in your brain, lay its eggs and lets its offspring do the same!!

Sounds like a fracture or break in the bone - I had one like that on my big toe when someone broke it with a 2x4 - in casualty they said they cant do anything to set small bones, you just need to strap it up so it doesnt move too much and it'll start healing itself.
