Its nothing to do with Erasure (why didnt they cover Dancing Queen on their Abba cover EP?); it is the first licensed Abba sample.

Id heard it was the first but in honesty; a 47yr old riding on the back of another fresh talent; still dancing the same ****e steps that I remember from 'Starlight'/'Holiday' doesnt really interest me.....

The new album is amazing - lots of different sound effects all through it.
As far as i know, Abba don't allow sampling rights to their songs in general, but i suppose when somebody like Madonna poses the question, it's sort of tough to say no!

Alcazar, as a committed clubber, i'm literally *amazed* that you posted this, thinking about it. Sampling is probably incorporated into most of the tracks you dance to, so why single out this one?!

The album is good - as good as American Life was poor, I'd suggest - but it does seem a bit of a retread, and nothing like as inventive as Ray Of Light. Still, rather a less-than-original Madonna album than none at all; the fact that she's still performing at an astonishingly high level (the standout performance of live8) is remarkable. Can't really think of anyone other than her and U2 who've continued to put out contemporary albums and tour on such a consistent basis. Sure, The Rolling Stones still tour from time to time, but they're strictly fanbase-only these days, and have been for the last 20 years.
(An aside: anyone who reads The Word will smile at Sharon Osbourne's potshots at Madonna. Never has the sound of an empty drum being banged provided me with such amusement.)

Although ALL of them are way past their best.
