That'll be the 'Mcdonalds Diploma' option at 14 then. Still suppose it will all stop when there is nothing else to sell.

No, really.
Has this worked in other counties and has the standard of education, discipline, etc improved???
In my head i keep getting images from the episode of the Simpsons when the churchg gets burned down by Homer and his rocket and it is rebuilt using sponsorship money complete with flashing neon advetising signs and stuff (episode was on sky or c4 last night)

Independent Schools are nothing new - just google Independent Schools, there are well over 2000 of them in the UK already. I guess the big difference is that these will be state funded.

Just Blair washing his hands of Education like he washed his hands of everything else.
As always it's presented as a wonderful initiative, ground breaking reform etc. TBH I can't see it's a bad thing given the appalling mess they've made of education in the last seven years.

This must be the thickest generation of kids with the most worthless exams I have ever known in my life.Seems anyone from 90's education onwards learnt stuff all.
Are the teachers stupid or something. I have taken on two people (very briefly) partly based on glowing grades.
Means nothing if they can't spell ,add up or speak properly.
Pathetic.Something needs shaking up.I will be looking for people 35+ in future.Dimwit kids.Rubbish education system.

my youngest daughter is due to start high school in september.. they had a visit from one of the tutors who informed them that all year 7's would be given their own laptop.
My elder daughter (15)then tells us that in a good few years to come, that all school work will be put onto a laptop for the kids and they will do their work at home and go into school 1 day a week to socialise! She'd been told this by her teachers at school... wether or not it's true I'm not sure.
sorry if this is of no interest to you.

Due to all the overspending by various govt depts, the govt is turning from being a provider of services like health and education to a purchaser. This will prevent the govt depts from overspending. A lot of the take-for-granted extras that we get now with the current system will just disappear. And to think we voted this shower of idiots into office.
