I asked a similar question on another forum some time ago and the general consensus seemed to be that cut price Oakley's were few and far between... Oakley are pretty hot on dealers who discount/devalue the brand.

As far as High Street/Online retailers are concerned I think you'll struggle - trying the airports was something that was suggested to me though

Good Luck

K.

Plus you could get stung for various tax and other import charges.. which negates the discount..

Got my X-Metal Romeos from Sunglass Hut as proper discounts on genuine articles are impossible to find as kelvin stated.

The last thing you want is a cheap forged pair screwing your eyesight up.. especially if you're walking around thinking their genuine and protecting you.. the kudos isn't worth it..

Did you contact Oakley? I've worn Oakleys for both sports and personal use for nearly 10 years & have found Oakley's customer service to be absolutely top notch when it comes to broken/damaged items...

Oakley aren't expensive just for the name. My eyes are certainly worth more than £5.

You can get them put under warranty for £10 from Oakley's who'll fix them under that warranty, regardless of age (within reason).

Oakley dealers in the US or Canada will not send to the UK as a rule of thumb I've looked into it already.
I got lucky with my X-metals, specsavers were doing a sale on Oakleys as they were wanting to empty their cabinet for some new models, managed to wangle a set of X-metals in hte spec I wanted for the same discount as the sale was offering, 25% so a tasty £65 saving for me.

I bought my X-Metal Romeos mail order from Giarre in Italy after recommendations from people on Scoobynet. http://www.giarre.com/

I saved about 35% on UK retail price, and they are shipped from within the EU so no worries about getting stung for import duty/VAT etc.

If I recall correctly, they arrived in less than a week from me ordering them. I'd definately use them again.

I was going to buy the wife a pair of Split thread. They were needing £219 for them in Vision Express then £75 for the lenses. Via Giarre they come to £135 all in !!!!
Does anyone have experience of ordering prescription eyewear over the net ??

I really like the Gascan sunglasses but guess they're not available as prescription lenses? Does anyone know?

I wasn't saying anything against other 'proper' sunglasses. I was saying that a forged pair of Oakley's with some coloured glass wasn't worth the Kudos or your eyesight later in life... If you feel that a pair of Boots specials do the job then great..

Independant tests do put Oakley's above other brands in terms of protection... and yes, you will pay a little for the image... But I've yet to see anything in Boots equal the quality, looks and fit of my Romeos..

If you can afford or are willing to justify the best.. then why not?
